Hi! I'm Cadence

I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia on February 12, 2018. This is my story.

Day -19

I got home from Toronto last night, and today was a thoroughly relaxing day. We got up early, and bill took me to St. Annes spa for the day. It was such a nice escape. We both got a massage and foot treatment, and spent the day just relaxing in the hot tubs and saunas. We enjoyed a lovely lunch and afternoon tea, before returning home for an early bed time. Serious Self care day!

Just living my best life over here. Day-19! Yup that’s a house coat under my jacket. I’m at the spa with Bill for a surprise spa day??‍♀️ . . Having a transplant meant giving up a lot of stuff. For real. Not just the vision of the life I pictured myself having or the chance to have kids, or a feeling of security. It meant giving up control, giving up alcohol and cannabis too. Right at a point where I’m going through something huge and overwhelming- giving up two things that I often find comforting that I use to cope when nothing else in my coping arsenal feels like it’s working. They’re vices. I admit it. I don’t need them but I’m often happy they’re there. . . In a few days I will enter a long stretch of sobriety, so that my body can best recover from the treatments and avoid infection. It will be worth it. I will probably be a way better person. Until then ? #itslegal #hubbyrocks #relax #leukemia #bonemarrowtransplant #spaday #canada
