Hello Friends!
It’s been a while since I posted so here is a little update:)
I started my Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor treatment for Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia via Sprycel on March 2nd and was able to cut my White Cell Counts in half in the first ten days and bring my platelet counts back into a normal range as well. My Doctor says this is an excellent early response and I’m extremely grateful to be responding to the treatment so well. I’m hoping to reach the first milestone of treatment, which is a Major Molecular Response in the first three months.
I took a week off of work for the beginning of the treatment to get used to the side effects which were challenging in the beginning but have become much more tolerable now.
I have returned to work part-time to keep me busy and active. In between working I have a limited amount of physical and mental energy and am spending that time resting and focusing on the most important things to me: Family, Friends and Music.
So far it’s been a big adjustment but definitely nothing I can’t handle!! I’m really grateful also to have made relationships with other people living with CML so we can talk about our experiences and encourage each other through it. Bill Ashton and My Family have been an amazing support system to me, and Ann Chaplin, Stacey Zegers and Casadie Jo Pederson have done an amazing job holding down the Runaway Angel fort while I rest up for our next big release.
Thank you so much to everyone who has messaged me or reached out to offer your support. I truly am astounded and so grateful to know how much support exists within my world. If I am slow to respond it’s because this experience has truly shifted my view of what is most important to me, and while I do enjoy social media and catching up with my family and friends on here, I’m currently finding more joy in experiencing the little moments we so often miss when our eyes are looking at screens 😉
